Become a DVSA enhanced rider scheme trainer
The enhanced rider scheme is for motorcyclists who want to develop their riding skills. This includes people who have recently passed their motorcycle test, have had a break from riding or who are moving up to a bigger motorcycle. To offer this training you must become a DVSA enhanced rider scheme trainer.
How to become a DVSA enhanced rider scheme trainer
You must:
- have held a full category A or A2 licence for at least 3 years
- apply to become a DVSA enhanced rider scheme trainer and pay the registration fee. The fee is £90 for 1 year or £240 for 4 years
- get an accepted advanced riding qualification if you do not already have one
- pass a theory test
- complete a DVSA accredited training course within 2 years (unless you're a direct access scheme certified trainer).
Booking your theory test
You can book your enhanced rider scheme trainer theory test at GOV.UK. The test costs £66.
You can also use GOV.UK if you need to check or change the test date or centre, or cancel your test.
