Joining the register of post-test motorcycle trainers

Joining the register of post-test motorcycle trainers

You can train motorbike riders who’ve got their full motorcycle licence but want to develop their skills further if you’ve joined the register of post-test motorcycle trainers (RPMT). This could include training riders who are returning to riding after a break, moving up to a bigger motorbike or taking the enhanced rider scheme.

To join the register, you must

  • be 21 or older
  • have had a full category A motorcycle licence for at least three years.

There are two ways to join the register:

Whichever route you take, you’ll need to apply to join the register first.

For more information about joining the RPMT, see the guide on GOV.UK.

You can book your instructor theory test at GOV.UK. The test costs £66.

You can also use GOV.UK if you need to check or change the test date or centre, or cancel your test.
